This year I have some mixed feelings about your
birthday. I'm thrilled, honored, and
grateful for the years we've been together and I thank God for you every
day. But the time is going too
fast. You're three years old,
Cubbs. Just last week you weren't even
three months old yet.
It has been a whirlwind, hasn't it? So much has happened in the past year. You've matured, of course, but there's still
that puppy streak in you and, even though it drives me bonkers from time to
time, I truly hope that won't ever go away.
You make me laugh, and you melt my heart.
During the past year you've graduated from Happy Tails and
now sport a beautiful cape attached to your harness. You went on your first cross-country flight
to the East coast and picked up four new states, played a bit part in
socializing a puppy, and even got on TV once.
It wasn't so much fun going through allergy scratch testing followed by
a series of shots which we're still in the throes of, or the painful and fiery
hot spot taking out half of your face.
Thankfully, you're all healed up and that's behind us now.
If things work out the way I'm hoping, and that's a big if,
you'll be doing some major traveling which will get us out of Phoenix for a good bit of the summer. Other than that, I can't think of anything
specific coming up for your next year, but one thing is certain ... I can
always count on you to be full of surprises.
Thank you for your service, your loving cuddles, your never-ending nagging to go outside and play ball, your daily fresh supply of shedded dog hair all over the house, your muddy paws, and your constant lying down right where I want to walk. I've loved every minute of it. Happy Birthday, Big Boy!
